The Gentle Approach
“Deposit the seed” Jesus was kind and did not force anything.
In “Tortured for Christ” it talks about a Russian soldier who came to Christ because he was asked not ordered, because Jesus was kind not bossy. He was the son of God but as humble as a child. Giving to all to anyone but never did he go to the same person twice. He would wait many times until they came to Him, because they always did and by the thousands.
I have a 15 month old grandchild who doesn’t understand much of what I say but she plays with and sees me wear a cross every day. I am planting a seed that I will nurture as her in a child’s gentle way. As she grows I will add a little more information and hopefully she will see Christ in me. Adults should be treated the same way. As we all become born again in Christ we all must become like children to receive the Holy Spirit.
So next time you feel the burden to witness; go gently and humbly as a child, to a child. You don’t have to be scholars, simply share what you received. May be just share your story and wait on the Lord. Maybe you can just share one verse or two. Sometimes handing an entire Bible to someone is overwhelming. Remember the first time you read a bible and it looked like Greek until you in fact were saved and filled with the Holy Spirit of understanding.
For those of you who were not raised with the gospel it is very confusing to be given too much info at once. If someone does come to you don’t be a one time preacher. Be a teacher, but a loving one. Be gentle as Christ was.
