Are you open to discomfort?
Wow that is the deepest question I have been asked in along time. It's one thing to say: "Yeah I understand that there will be tribulations" or "I understand the I will be tested and persecuted by satan" but to ask me if I am open to it? Wow. It's like asking me if I want to take a long walk off of a short bridge. Remember when your mom used to say: "So, If Johnny is going to jump off of a cliff are you going to jump off a cliff?"
s how did you answeer your mom. My answer: "well, yes mom. If Jesus asks me to jump off a cliff I will." Of course Jesus would only ask us to jump off a metaphoric cliff but they feel just a scary and deadly to us don't they? He may clear a path to a new job, or new place to live and change is always scary. Do we fight and question or are we open enought to say: "Ok, Lord, whatever you want, wherever you send me, you are there and so am I with you."
It is comforting to know whatever may happen you are not alone, He is holding your hand, He is in your heart and He will guide, comfort or maybe even give you a parental lesson if needed. But we can never grow and learn and receive the rewards if we are not open to these things.
